24 Leigh-on-Sea Station - Leigh Broadway - Chalkwell & Westcliff Stations - Southend Central - Southend City Centre - North/Central Avenues - Southchurch, Newington Avenue

Better Queensway work starts 31/10/2025 until at least January 2027. Expect delays in the Southend area during this time. Some services may be curtailed short of their usual terminals to maintain service reliability.

Effected Routes: 25, 28, 7, 8, 7C, 2, X30, 1, 3, 24, 11, 29, 26, 27, 17, 13, 20, 4, 4F, 827, 826, 820, 60, 61, 6, 9, 21, 21S

Better Queensway work starts 31/10/2025 until at least January 2027. As part of this, the Queensway Underpass will be PERMANENTLY CLOSED after 08/12/2025, with the northern slip roads closed (except for access from Short Street) until at least January 2027. Work on the Porters Grange Roundabout (above Queensway) will also start around this time. Expect delays on all of these routes.

Due to Better Queensway works, Sutton Road will be CLOSED from 04/02/26 until 18/05/26. Buses will divert via Bournemouth Park Road, Southchurch Avenue, and Chancellor Road. During this time, buses will use Stop L at Southend Travel Centre towards Southchurch, and won't call there towards Leigh (Passengers should board/alight at Southend Central). Stops between Bournemouth Park Road and Whitehouse Road will NOT be served.

Due to Better Queensway works, buses that usually use Sutton Road or Southchurch Road will be on diversion after December 8. Buses on route 24 will use Stop L (Heygate Avenue/Southend TC) for buses towards Southchurch. Southend Travel Centre will NOT be served towards Leigh; Passengers should board/alight at Southend Central (Stop M). Stops VR/VS (Whitegate Road), and VQ (Southchurch Road) will NOT be served during this time, and passengers will need to travel down to Southend Travel Centre (towards Southchurch) or Southend Central (towards Leigh) to board buses on this route.
